OLD and New!

Well i will start this new Topic off by just saying that although the Cruise Ships of today are indeed much bigger and in a lot of ways better,(well its debatable) i still think that the Ships of yesteryear (our Era) wether Cruise Ship or otherwise were far more exciting to travel on,at least you knew you were at Sea in most of them,not like most of these Huge Monsters of today,that one cant even experience the lovely and exilarating movement of what is truly the Cruel Sea!
An experience that i am sure one and all really found to be their greatest!
No for me,its the Old and not the New!

todays ships are for the masses, with a lot of things to do all the time. the old days it was more sedate and slower, spent alot more time in foriegn ports, and more exotic shore trips. overnight in most ports and longer cruises 14 days min. and the old ships could cross the oceans of the world constantly, through good and bad weather, still those of us who had the chance to do it in those days are baised. thats why we call it the good old dayswhen we were young.

The ships we sailed on where ships, the floating appartment blocks now are fugly by comparrison. They may have every thing thta opens and shuts but have little character. I have heard some can only sail certin routes where the waters are at their calmest. I will report back later in the year on my experiences on this matter

Did a cruise some years back on Regal Princess. Didnt know I was at sea untill I went on deck.
Give me the old cargo boats any time. The rougher the better.

I have been on a number of cruises, on ships of different sizes. The QE2 is really good as she was built for transatlantic crossings and feels like a ship should.

However some of the new mega cruise liners, although completely different, are still really enjoyable in their own right.

I am going on P&O's Oceana in just under 2 weeks time and can't wait!

Well Vernon, it is my intention to try their fog lockers and to see if the crew have a "Pig'. Have heard they are not allowed to drink on the voyage so maybe not.

Yep John i doubt if youll find a Pig there mate,nowdays they are supposed to be so strict on the Drinking scene (but thats also debatable) for the Crew!
So Fog Locker! no chance mate! haha!!
You will have to create your own! That wont be very hard will it John!
