    Default Grimaldi Cruise

2016. Joined a Grimaldi car carrier( Grande Scandinavia ) for a 35 day Med' and Northern Europe cruise. With wife and one other ( American ) we boarded at Southampton. After loading new earthmoving machinery the back door was lifted up and off we went to our first port Cork. From there to the Med', Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Israel ( rudest port officials ever ), Egypt then back to Italy. Left the Med' for Bristol, Denmark, Sweden, Belgium then return to Southampton for disembarkation. The ship accommodated 12 passengers but we were only 3. Food was as per crew in the crew mess. Amazing to see the swift load and discharge of vehicles. Our ship carried some 5,500 cars over eleven decks. Some of the decks were hydraulically raised once the cargo was lashed down. These are very fast ships that belie their bulk and we had the usual Bay of Biscay tantrums North and South but it was quite comfortable. Make your own entertainment, in port it's over to you. Just thought you would be interested.

There was a few years ago a Russian cargo shipping company that took passengers in a similar manner.
But if they still do that be careful, very careful, Putin is looking for more recruits!!!!!

Bank line and Geest line did that 12 passenger cruises for years. You could even Island hop. Get off the ship you were on and pick up the next one coming through. I know the Bank line ships were booked up to 2 years in advance.
