    Hello Bill # 9
Pete and I went on Sea Cloud 11 in 2013. It was absolutely fantastic. Sailed very day around the Caribbean. Can't remember a whole lot about the different islands ; just couldn't wait to get back on board and sail ! A far cry from the Enterprise Sailing dingy, (at 13 ft overall) that my brother and I shared when we were growing up.

My G/father was in sail in 1890s as a Bosun. What a tough life. Watched the Crew setting the sails; running up and down the rigging ;avoiding the Widow Maker and then making everything shipshape before we set off again. We saved up for a long time but it was worth it. I am so,so lucky to have had that experience.
Post # 18 . Then we went to Antarctica in 2008 before that trip got priced out of a normal person's pocket. Ask Capt. Kong; he was on the ship behind us heading to South Georgia. Big storm.
    Happy days
    Brenda

Really sorry for her James, obviously she is not aware of the time difference between summer and winter.
Tell her to try again in later June, then she may well complain it is too light at midnight for her, cannot sleep.

Well I have had a Christmas cruise this year on 'Arvia' bought for me as a pressie! Will no doubt be an interesting experience since my last family cruise after 'swallowing the anchor' was on 'Grandeur of the Seas' at 74,000 tons was big enough for me.....I thought. Really enjoyed that cruise though.
    Lets see what Arvia brings.....

Had two friends do the maiden voyage on her.
Not impressed, far too many on her, happy with a max of about 320 this one had over 5000.

    You 'aint seen anything yet.
Royal Caribbean has a new ship, saw a couple of photos.
This is not a ship of any kind, tis is more like Butlins on steroids.
<Made for the kids of all ages with water slides and all manner of other stupid deck activities.

    NOT FOR ME

I see the Chinese have launched the first Domestic built cruise liner 'Adora Magic City' the vessel has a capacity for 5000 guests and each lifeboat can hold 314 people and a spokesman proudly says we have enough lifeboats to cater for 90% of people onboard.

I wonder if you get a discount if you say you will be one of the remaining 10%

    Ivan.
The 10% are the crew, staying there to wave the passengers off.

#47 Lifeboat capacity during our time at sea Ivan , was laid out to have enough capacity on one side of the ship to carry all on board. Maybe the chinese have misread the Rules. If they havent the ship should have enough on the other side to carry 5000 persons also . Go for the discount in price and hope not to get your feet wet. Cheers JS.

Like rafts is the answer, so many on the ships now.
But maybe this one has the express type shot from the aft.
Just another attraction for all on board.

Latest bit on ships comes from Stockholm.
An electric self driving ferry is now operating between some islands there.
Just hope it knows which one you want to go to.

It has radar, cameras, lidar laser and ultrasonic systems compiling data to steer the course.

Then in the good old US of A, a self driving taxi hit a dog and killed it.
