Had three cancelled this year but have two booked for next, if the Vaccine is in on time then we will be fine.

#1 There is only one query John re your well spoken post, and that is chipping of decks. It more so goes to the ordinary cargo carriers rather than passenger liners who did not suffer as much as others in the de-manning process. I distinctly remember the promises and all the huha uttered by government and other officials for those voices that questioned such breaking of traditional seafaring. One query was ship maintainance and the reply with promise was that this would all be done by shore labour. Another one was about the safety with such small deck crews of berthing especially large vessels. Oh thats ok was the reply Riggers or such likes will board to assist. Like all promises made when government is wanting any Bill passed , they cant be considered too seriously. There may be some of the larger well known companys tried to follow these promises made by Greeks bearing false gifts , but the vessels I sailed on never saw much changes re the running of ships. The only concession I ever noticed was the heavy rope tail taken off the wire backsprings when berthing so 1 man with a bit of a struggle could handle on his own. Cheers JS

Yes John, that was written from the eye of a Catering crew member.
I do recall the chipping hammers even on the liners, and I have seen them on use on modern cruise ships.
Though by modern it would be mainly on some of the older ones.

As to docking, I recall seeing wire hawsers used in some ports, but now all you see are the rope ones.
