HI John.
It's the first I've heard of Italian's wanting to have a go at Aussies, I know it happened in the 50s but jeeze it's been a long time coming for that family. The pictures of the security people putting the boot in makes me think they may sue after losing the rest of their cruise, not an easy place to get from Eden would have been costly as well, unless they were only going to the grass palaces in Griffith then the Don would have taken care of it.
Cheers Des
We used to fly in there to some small airport outside Eden on one of those flying pencils they used to call them. Went down there one time with some friends also from Wollongong but by car, quite a long drive. Wouldn't like to pay the Taxi fare. Cheers JS
On a world cruise in 2007 on QE2, Two women started fighting in the Laundry over a washing machine.
Both women and their husbands were put ashore in TONGA, they lost their cruise and had to find their way home from there, an expensive fight.
Hi John.
I suspect we will hear more about this via the lawyers. One man 's son was hit over the head with a bottle, when he approached the Skipper and told him he should lock them up, he was told lock yourself in your cabin until we get to port? it was to be a bloody cruise not isolation. I think maybe the lawyers might be hovering around ready for a class action. This is the third time it's happened this year.

#44... That's one for the book Brian. Most fights are started over women, not by them. Are you sure it wasn't an argument between them on who had the best tattoos. JS
They were a Lebanese family of some 23 persons.
According to other passengers the fights began on day two of the cruise.
The skipper will I think be in deep trouble with the company as Carnival the Parent company of Carnival, Princess, Cunard, P&O, Holland America and Costa have a very strict policy that any person causing fights o bothering other passengers be put off at the next port of call.
The QM2 was in port yesterday here in Melbourne and the captain was interviewed on TV.
A white male born and bred in England!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi John.
You are correct it was a Lebanese family, the news reports were wrong, I was puzzled myself as there has been no problems with the Italian community since the fifties. The whole family of about thirty live in one massive house, I have never seen such opulence in a family home, be interesting to see if the police follow it up, though maybe if it happened outside Australian waters would have no jurisdiction.

No Des the police can, if requested by the shipping company, act on the matter.
But depending where the ship is when they are put off the police I am informed can act without the authority of the company.
In this case it was an Australian port so they can act on their own.
I was doing my survival at sea refresher I did it at Fleetwood. Along with a lot of lads in the offshore industry. I think I may have been the only seaman on the course.
