#31 Someone who didn't like water bottles or didn't like peoples heads, that is the question. Did the person who was questioned give out any Shakespearian quotes like " to be or not to be that is the question". JS

Watched it on catch up. The 2nd Mate driving the shore tender fitted with a bow thruster and twin engines, bloody hell that would have been a dream on my first ship I was Master of. Had a fixed pitch prop and two anchors and that was it or manoeuvring.
Mind you I did think that the 2nd Mates comment she made when taking charge of departing a Greek port was quite good.
"A 25 year old blonde in charge of a billion pound ship, what could go wrong". Methinks she will go far with an attitude and skill set like she has.

Ask them about 'doubling the angle on the bow, or a running fix, let alone dipping distance. Loved it, but always had problems with station pointers.

Understand very well, after getting 2M cert did 2 radar courses, the official one with certificate and a 5 day course with Decca at Blackfriars Bridge. Great week, only student so spent a every lunch time in Blackfriar Pub. Back to sea and still not allowed to touch the radar. Master, self taught and hopeless with no concept of calculating nearest approach or anything. Several masters like that but one did ask when I was 2nd.mate to turn it on so it was warmed up when he got to the bridge. Another poodlefaker who would bring female passengers to the bridge at 2200 to show hem how to plot the position by radar, I always came down from the top compass with compass bearing, and he would always say, 'If he has not taken accurate bearings he will get a 'cockle hat', I never got a cocked hat and he never twigged that at least one bearing was flogged.
