Re: Gratuities and barmen
Vernon, where were you when they were pouring the beer? On UCL Lavender ladies there was draught beer in most of the bars, special beer for the Pig of course. Outbound McEwans draught of 4&1 and on way back Orangebom which was normally 4&2.
Re: Gratuities and barmen
Last trip on the STATENDAM and last years world cruise on the AMSTERDAM my bar bill was zero, so No gratuities to the Bar Staff.
It was amazng that I did not miss not having a drink, I guess it was though my medication.
I did have a drink each voyage in Tahiti with my Polynesian mates, last month in Tahiti my mate took us to the restaraunt where he had his wedding and repeated the wedding party and I got well and truly bevied.
Ruff as a badgers bum next day, first drink since last June. That was enough to turn me off drinking.
Cheers
Brian
Re: Gratuities and barmen
From what I've read I've certainly no regrets that I didn't sail on passenger ships, at least when I came off watch I knew my tinnie contained the genuine brew.
Re: Gratuities and barmen
I knew a stwd who eventually jumped in NZ and worked the bar on the ferries running between the two islands,
back in the 70s he told me he never had to touch his pay, eventually they installed cameras aimed at the bar,
so I was told.
