Sounds like a normal working day here Keith. the container traffic does not affect the Landing Stage area, that's afew miles north of the pier head and that traffic is routed away from central areas. This port coped well for a long time in the past with a higher volume of liner activity, so I would imagine the City Fathers (along with Peel Holdings) would be successful in maintaining the smooth flow of the expected volume of shipping along the Mersey.

Ref. 13... Lou if you pick up two, make sure you get in the middle in bed. You know the old story there were 3 in the bed and the little one said roll over roll over, they all rolled over and one fell out, there were 2 in the bed...... dont want to finish up on the deck... John S

Well John I sure do not need any Blue pills .Getting back to cruise ships the other Sunday I took drive down to Port Chalmers to have a look at the cruise ship the Queen Victoria she sure is a big ship and she as a female Captain Inger Klien Olsen . With the Port not that big for a shipping port they seem to handle them with no problems . The Sunday we had the MN memorial I got talking to one of the pilots who use to live in the UK and he was telling me that he goes pilots the cruise ships and he told me it is a very good job he lives in Dunedin

Port Chalmers is a little deceptive in size LOu, two cruise ships in there on either side yet i did not thinbk the port big enough for that. But the run in along the coast is so beautiful and peaceful, realley enjoyed it.

I'll bet Lou, you didn't see Ms Olsen reverse her vessel alongside.

Captain Olsen started her career on fishingboats out of the Faroe Islands and then onto ferries before joing Cunard.
A friend of mine went on the Victoria, He was introduced to her as a Chief Engineer, [ ex ESSO], she said to him
"I do not shake hands with engineers."
So he was not too happy with that snub.
    Cheers

He should have wiped the heavy oil off his hands with a drop of gas oil first , Navigation officers always hate Binker C dripping on their whites
