    Default FEELING SICK???

In the mid 90’s at about the time doctors and scientistswere finding ways to deal with the Aids virus another new virus reared it’sugly head. Some in the medical profession believe this is a side effect of theAids virus.

It acts like any other gastro intestinal illness, combiningnausea with the back yard trots very often both at the same time. The symptomscan be eradicated, as is the case with any similar ailment, however this onehas another side to it. Once it has entered the body it is there forever. Oncethe symptoms are removed all is well until the next time, which could be at anytime. It remains dormant in the body until something triggers another outbreak.

This virus is known as the Norovirus, is very contagious andis normally transmitted by hand contact. Under normal conditions it is bad, butan outbreak on a ship can be disastrous.

It was the seventh day of the cruise when the Captain cameon the public address system to inform all passengers and crew that there was asuspected case of Norovirus on board. 36 passengers had reported sick with thesymptoms of this virus. The ship having sailed from an Australian port andreturning to same, continued to come under Australian health regulations.Normally under such conditions there would first be a yellow alerts followed byorange then red. The captain was not prepared to wait and declared a red alertat once.

Strict hygiene protocol was then introduced with a programof antiseptic washing of all hand rails, door handles table tops etc even tothe gaming chips in the on board casino. For the next 72 hours the self-service restaurant became one where catering crew, wearing rubber gloves andusing tongs, served all foods to the passengers. Even getting a cup of coffee required a crew member to get it foryou.

On the second day it was announced that of the 36 cases 24were on the same deck and 31 of the total had all eaten in the same restaurantarea in Suva Fiji. Thankfully at the end of it all extensive testing showedthis was not the Norovirus but just a common local form of gastro enteritisregularly found in the Fiji islands.

The captain went on to explain that there have beenmore cases of Norovirus reported on ships sailing from Sydney that any otherport in the western world. It is now believed that the virus is about to hit France in a big way.

Hi Richard, I have not been to europe for twenty or so years, since my ship took me there. No intention of doing so. I do not like to be a european or want to be one . I am very ANTI european.
european laws are taking us over, they prevent us from deporting foreign criminals, because it is their human rights to stay in UK. Abu Qatada is one of hundreds that we have to keep on the streets of Britain because Strasburg says No we cannot deport a Jordanian back to Jordan. He is the head of Al Queda in Britain.
The europeans forget who liberated them in WW2 and WW1 from a Dictatorship. Now we need to be Liberated from a Dictatorship and be British again. europe is dragging us down.
    .
I do go to Australia every two years. cos I like it.
    Cheers
    Brian.
