    Cool River Cruising

Following the Costa Concordia incident my good lady is completely off deep sea cruising. I have been looking at river cruising in Europe. Prices are quite steep but it appears that they are all inclusive, tips, wine with meals, shore excursions, pick up home to airport etc. Anyone out there had any recent experience? Any comments appreciated.
    Cheers Russ

Friend of ours here did one last year around the Rhine area and said it was very good. They got an all in package including air fare to and from Oz.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Life is too short to blend in.

Also had an old mate and his wife from OZ who did one of those a few years ago. Amsterdam to somewhere in Austria.
All inclusive , they had a great time. far better than deep sea cruising - always something to see and their bedroom
    balcony had a fantastic view.

    River cruises.
My wife and I have done two, The first was on the River Yangste just before they closed off a section and built locks etc. Chinese ship and great food, service shore visits, scenery and general enjoyment, Wasnt cheap however and no free drinks but recall prices on those were reasonable.
Second was up the Rhine from Strasbourg which was also good but main language was French with little English spoken, lots of crew were Eastern Europeans Slavic maybe. Nice runs ashore Heidleberg etc ,vineyards. Food fine but again no free drinks as I recall. Passenger numbers of course much lower and less crowded than the usual cruise ships of the block of flat types which are the norm these days.
