I am well aware that many of you do not like the look of modern day cruise ships, calling them 'blocks' of flats.

Today I saw the ugliest cruise ship ever built, and I mean ugly.

This looks like the result of a nightmare being copied on paper.

A number of things I have noticed when on cruise ships. The bats are very rarely lowered to show people what happens in the event of them having to be used.
Some lifeboat "drills" are carried out with all the passengers in the lounge.
The thought of having to abandon ship, and finding your steward in charge of proceedings at your station is rather worrying.
Most passenger ships have very limited numbers of actual seamen, which is concerning, and as has been mentioned before, the thought of having to follow the great overfed, barely mobile along corridors and stairways is enough to make your own arrangements. Although, it would be interesting to see how many wheelie walkers would suddenly become superfluous to requirements.
We have always kept copies of passports and travel documents in sealed sandwich bags.

With Royal Caribbean cruise the life boat drill is held at your life boat.
P&O do it in the theatre for all.
Princess do it at your muster station.

The lowering of life boats apart from when being used as tenders happens regularly with princes as there will be at least one boat drill for crew in one port.

That is a bit over the Top i think, although i know that Boat Drill is very important, how can a Cruise Line just cancel a Passengers Cruise over that?? I am sure there will be a lot of complaints . Another thing is that there could and i am sure will be people starting to put in claims for loss of Money, and can end up sueing the Company.
And then what about the various Countries that these People are set aground at, will it not be illegal for many. So many things that could happen. Its a very strange and stupid Policy for a big Shipping Company.
Now just saying thats all. But one has to wonder!!!

Yes Vernon, sounds a bit tough but we saw it happen in Sydney a few years ago on a Royal Caribbean ship we were on.
It was later announced what had occurred and why.
Miss boat drill and you are in trouble big time.
Cruise companies will tell you that the safety of passengers is paramount and since the Concordia disaster they have come down hard on passengers who do not obey the rules.

Yes quite understand thanks but still sounds a bit hard.
However i know it is Maritime Law so i suppose they have their rights .
There is i guess exceptions like illness ,but as Boat drill normally takes place just before sailing (First one) this i guess would rule out anyone ,as most all would have to have been Healthy at the time ??
    Oh well
    Cheers
