Been on two cruises when a wedding has taken place.
One in particular comes to mind.
Most young brides are said to have a complexion like peaches and cream, this one must have been a bit older as it was more like Rhubarb and custard.

That expression has always puzzled me, why would you want a white complexion with big yellow blobs all over!

Re: Cruise Liners
Interesting article on the internet today, the cruise companies are obviously taking a massive hit at the moment. There will not be help from the government due to the fact they are registered abroad to not pay tax, cheap foreign crews etc, so anyone looking to invest some money, looks like razor blade companies could be a good bet, kt

Re: Cruise Liners
A message yesterday from Princess Cruises updating the situation on the ships.
As part of Carnival, about 100 ships in all, they are in a strong position.
A slightly wealthy Arab investor in Dubai bought up abut 10% of the stock of Princess injecting a large sum of money.
They appear to be readying the fleet for the eventual return to sailing, possibly late June.

Re: Cruise Liners
It’s only those that have no doubts as to the medical safety of these vessels who will be ready to jump in where they left off. I would have thought before the present Virus hit , that these ships with about 4000 passengers would have had hospital facilities as good if not better than a small hospital out in Whoop Whoops. They marry and bury and have the facility’s to give birth , The excuse for them claiming refuge is what.? They can’t handle the sick and the elderly.!. I have never had the urge to go cruising , fortuanely neither does my better half. The short periods she did with me on coastal passages she was always sick as a dog, she never got any sympathy from me, and am quite happy that she shows no inkling of repeating the venture. I didn’t like Butlins holiday camps either but had to show willing for the kids sake. Everyone to his own desires, cruising is not one of mine. Boozing maybe but that is a different story. Maybe their new motto should be we hatch match and despatch ourselves on board the vessel at reduced rates. JS

Re: Cruise Liners
I dare them, I dare them, to rename the Ruby Princess the Virus Princess, just for old timers sake.

Re: Cruise Liners
Bit odd that Victoria as usually if overloaded ill not move, but odd things do happen.
I think most of the ships used for cruising will be the cleanest ever once they return.
One small company situated in Asia only small ships, maybe up to 1500 have issued new guide lines for their cruising.
Any one over 70 must provide a medical certificate to say they are fit to cruise, could be a problem for some companies as at times some 70% of passengers are in that bracket.
No more self serve in the buffet with crew wearing masks and rubber gloves to serve.
May work in Asian regions where many wear them at all times, but maybe not so popular with western travelers.

Re: Cruise Liners
Doctors on ships. My only experience on a merchant ship for a short time was on a Norwegian seismic ship with a large number of people on board.Fortuanetley the Norwegian Master was still on board so was his decision. The doctor was taken it upon himself to go round the storerooms and putting condemned on a lot of items on certain produvcts , so the Norwegian.sacked him and had a medic appointed in his place . So all this heresay about a doctor being compulsory might be right for a British ship , but not apparently for others.
Hoewever working for he MOD and on experimental subjects we always carried a Naval Surgeon and when on annual cruises down the Med. sometimes up to 3 just depended on lifeboat facilities . When not on their annual training for RNR duties, they could certainly knock it back the same as most. I would imagine of these doctors on passenger ships are young interns waiting for future career opportunity’s. All you passenger people is this right or wrong ? JS.

Re: Cruise Liners
Maybe with all these sick passengers the owners of these vessels should go back to the early years of seamen’s wives accompanying their husbands , where they signed on as crew and at the same time had to sign a disclaimer form to say they were responsible for themselves.. However something similar is maybe already in the small print on today’s passengers tickets. Cheers JS

Re: Cruise Liners
Would have been interesting if they were treated with what seemed to be the usual standard issue
CUTS/ ABRASIONS = ELASTOPLAST
PAIN = ASPIRIN OR PARACETAMOL
STOMACH PROBLEMS - BLACK DRAFT
