    Default Geordie John Bramwell

Geordie John Bramwell crossed the bar yesterday at noon. He lived over in Western Australia.
He would have been 97 next month.
John had served on BP tankers for many years, before emigrating to Australia, then sailed on the West Aussie coast.

When I first moved into the retirement village I was approached by a John Taylor who also had connections with the NE, one of the British liner companys took him on and he knew Wallsend and South Shields very well , his father was a Geordie , but think John was born in Australia , he enjoyed trying his Geordie lingo on me. He worked up to Chief Engineer and think his first ship was a Port line boat which took him back to Oz where he married in about 1952 to
his childhood sweetheart . John would of been about the same age as the person you mention , and when I was down in the office the other day people were coming out of the building where there had been a rememberance service for him , and Unfortuanetley I didn’t even know he had died being too wrapped up in my own and wife’s medical problems. John Taylor when he left the sea went as a power station manager and very sorry to find out too late he had passed away. John Bramwell doesn’t ring any bells was he in a retirement village ? The two John’s must have passed very close together. They may of known each other . Commiserations to both family’s.
    JS…
PS I always meant to tell John Taylor about the immigrant to the NE who was questioned by the authorities what he was doing there and his answer “ My Daddy was a Geordie and he come to South Shiely for further Education “ . Won’t get the chance now. The port line ship was a brand new vessel sailed from Wallsend he was a junior engineer then , either 51/52 for Oz think he got all his promotions with Port Line. JS

I've known Geordi for many years via Paltalk then Skype and he was a larger than life bloke, after all those years in Australia he still sounds as though he's under the Tyne Bridge. You were a great bloke mate and missed by those who met you. Rest in peace big John.
