    Default Bob Metcalfe

It is with great sadness that I advise that Bob Metcalfe, Senior Electrical Engineer with Palm Line crossed the bar on Friday 1st of May, after a long fight with prostate cancer. I only sailed with Bob a couple of times, so didn't know him that well. However even in that short time, it was plain that Bob, a very unassuming guy, was a true gentleman through and through. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Amongst some of this frivolity on site there can be a lot of sadness. So saddened to hear of your dear friend,Bob Metcalfe,of Palm Line. May He Rest In Peace now after fighting that illness. I had heard mention of Bob in some of your postings a while ago.
Please convey my condolences to his family.I may not have known him personally, but somehow I felt I did ,he being mentioned on this site.

    Default Bob Metcalfe

    John,Castleman,Taffy2, Davy, Louis,
Guys, I went to Bob's committal on Friday, at Newcastle Crematorium. Spoke to his wife and his two sons, they had seen the tributes to Bob on this website and were very appreciative.
    Thanks guys.

Hi Russ,Thank you for that, and I'm pleased to know that his 'passing' has not gone unrecorded, and his family have received a crumb of comfort from his ex-seafaring community here. I sincerely wish that this would happen to us all one day,as you know we seafarers are a very loyal community. Bob is 'with us',as well as his dear family and friends.
    Sincerely
    From Davey(Gulliver)
