    Default Crossed the bar...John Seed

An old shipmate of mine from the late 1950's John Seed of Grimsby, UK died recently from a brain tumor.
John was an extermely active man right up until his death. He was in his early 70's and still regularly played ice hockey. We served together for several trips on the Africa Palm as fellow AB's and had many adventures.
We had renewed our friendship fifty years after we first met. It was a wonderful experience and I am sorry to lose this precious connection with the life we had at sea during the best years of the British Merchant Navy.

May he rest in peace......Jason Davis

Default I hope to see my Pilot face to face

    Crossing The Bar
    by Lord Alfred Tennyson

    Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,

But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
    Turns again home.

    Twilight and evening bell,
    And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
    When I embark;

For though from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crossed the bar.

I worked with John for 20 years, both on and offshore. John was an absolute gentleman and will be sadly missed. RIP
