Hi Andy, And welcome to the site, I remember going aboard the Port Chalmers invited to a party in 1972, She was either a steward or a cook but I remember a queen by the name of Gloria stealing the lime light, Happy days mate Terry.

Hi Andy, I remember you from the Port Nicholson, I think you were a ordinary seaman then. The Bosun was a aberdonian Jack something or other, the chippy was Harry Rooney from Belfast. Skipper was darty Finch. I was a S.O.E.R. I sailed with Port line till 1978 then went ashore as the game was up with conventional shipping. The last time I think I saw you it was Sheerness you were on your motorbike.

Hi Trevor, thanks for the reply, with retirement comes the luxury of time coupled with the fogging of the brain I'm very sorry to say that I don't remember you but I certainly don't dispute that I sailed with you on the nickelson but I have never had a motorbike the only time I ever met up with crew mates was in sheerness when Barry and a few others came down for a general pissup maybe you were with them, I am not even sure that was the same ship.
All I really remember about the nickelson was it was probably the worst trip I did the first mate was an absolute shithead, closed bar on the kiwi coast, throwing all the girls off the ship absolute bummer.anyway mate it is great to hear from you if you can fill in any more details for me it will be greatly appreciated.
    All the best Andy

Hi Fred, thanks for the reply very interested to see you did the 2nd trip on the victor as I did her last deep sea trip on her we brought her back from NZ paid off in London she then went to Glasgow and from there for scrap.
A grand old lady and the best voyage I ever did at sea.
    regards Andy

Hi Andy, re Port Nicholson, did the second cook not glass the gay steward in the bar over a cold meats tray and we had to go into the Azores to put the ashore on the homeward bound journey
