    Hello William
Welcome to the site and thank you for listing your details and Ships.
Its nice to have new Blood on the Crew list!
Great Line up you had there and good long Service as well.

I also see that you were with British Tankers, but with all you have mentioned there is not the British Aviator which my late Brother was on around the 1960's

Your R Number is around that of both mine and my Brothers he joined the Merch in 57 and I in 58.
    Cheers

    Hi William.
a friend and neighbour in the facing house, was David Wallwork, Cadet and then up to Mate and Master with BP until they made him redundant..
He later went in Rig Supply ships in the Gulf then to ship building in Viet Nam where he was killed.
Just wondered if you knew him.
    Cheers

Sorry Brian, The name doesn't ring bells with me, but then back then BP tankers were such a huge fleet you could go through your entire career and still not have sailed with some one.
I was, if you like, fortunate enough to be offered the move to the coastal fleet before the mass redundancies started and the fleet decimated.
Good to hear from you, thanks for the message.
    Cheers,
    Bill.

    Thanks for your reply Bill.
David ended up in Saigon in a shipbuilders office,, his family moved out there.
The Company then moved into a new building and his ship design Offices were on the top floor, Five floors up.

I was in Perth Australia watching the TV News and it showed an Office block on fire in Saigon.
The fire engine`s ladder could only go up three floors and all the people on the above floors were dying at the windows.
I didnt know David was one of them until I arrived home a few weeks later. I met his family and widow, and she told me the sad news.
I didnt tell her I had watched him dying on TV.
    Cheers
    Brian

    Hi Captain Bill
I was on all the coasters apart from the jouster. I mainly sailed with Gordon Lawrie and Donald Munroe.
I was really lucky as you were all gentlemen and thank you for putting up with me. I am retired now and have my own boat now in peterhead marina. I hope you are well.
