Hi Mike, I am trying to find information about my Dad's time in the the MN. He sadly died in 2015, but I am researching our family history. I remember my Dad talking about New Zealand and would like to gather as much info as possible to gift to my brother

    Hello Joanne
First up thank you for the question.
Now i must ask , was your Dad in the New Zealand Merchant Fleet, or is the British Merchant Navy that you mean?

Secondly would you know when approx he left the Merchant Navy, as no records were kept after 1972, and with a quick search, i have not come up with his name as yet!

Will need his DOB, and place which will help me to try and locate his Records!

    Will await your reply
    Thanks

    Vernon.
The Rangitiki was a British ship belonging to the New Zealand shipping Co Freezer ships carrying NZ lamb to the UK. He would have had a UK discharge book.
