Went back offshore in 1990 with R&B, then Ross Offshore, Sedco-Forex/Transocean and Seadrill. Transferred ashore in 2005 for Transocean working in Lagos & Luanda. Then in 2009 Tech management for Seadrill in Stavanger, Luanda & Dubai. Retired in 2017.

    With your fairly unusual surname, I don’t suppose you are any relation to General Featherstonhaugh, of Ryde IOW b1848 d 1932? We are living in his house! rgds Martin R725653

    Hello Martin, huge apologies for a nearly 2 year delay in reply but I'd forgotten that I'd posted this....
    Anyway, yes, the surname is pretty rare but even so, I am pretty sure that the chap you mention is from a different branch of the family. As far as I can discover, my predecessors in the Victorian age were mainly "in trade" as they say and were grocers or shopkeepers of one type or another and based around London or the North East.
