I did the maiden voyage on the Galway in 1959

I went on her from voyage two for a couple of years.

Brian, I have mentioned this before if the Wheelwright was ever going threw Mann Island pool here in Liverpool you new as soon as you reported without looking at the chalk board the place was deserted, I was lucky each time I got the offer I had 1 or 2 of my 3 strikes and your out left. I went aboard her after meeting up with a few of her crew ashore somewhere I cant remember where or when the first thing that struck me about the ship was the long faces sat in the rec room, Which was pretty big as I recall but I don't think she ever had a bar only tinny tenants on offer. She was found abandoned off the coast of India somewhere in 1975 and scrapped. Terry.

She was Not a happy ship, just that four of us who had sailed together a couple of times joined her,
The Bosun was Big Buck Macallister, about seven feet tall, big broken nose , so obviously wasn't that hard, we soon had him were we wanted.
As said before, she was full of fleas, in bed bitten all over, she had a crowd of Spanish coal miners on her during the 1960 strike, Two of my mates skinned out in Le Havre and got the ferry back to England and then train to Liverpool we got off two months later.

hi vivian i was on the galway from nov75 to apr76 at the time she was called strathinver and was part of p&o she was sold in singapore and shortly after she ran aground scrapped
