    Hi Martin.
Welcome to the site, plenty to read and enjoy. There is, in the forum, shipping Companies, one of which is Hain's which would make good reading.
My first ship was the Trevose, joined as deck boy in 49, did four trips, two years. best ship I was ever on.Our own Brian Proberts who runs the site was a Hain's man so you are in good hands.
    Cheers Des

Hi Martin, My uncle, Richard Chard, was the first chief engineer of the Patonga and actually took ill whilst on board and was landed at Kutching foe admittance to Hospital. He died shortly after admittance and is buried there. Regards Peter in NZ.

    Hi Martin,
I was on the "Trevalgan" 1962, ass. stwd., when the ship caught fire at sea, started in the laundry room by the galley boy
who wanted to return to port as had received a "Dear John" from his girl friend. I did two trips on her.
    Regards
    John B.
