These temps have been like this since before christmas, today started off -27c and going up to around -10c but snow is forecasted, supposedly up to 10 inches or so overnight and into tomorrow.

Re: Eugene Doherty
Stan, I was taking my dog for a walk down the road just before the heat really hit us. A late middle age lady and her husband stopped to chat. I recgnised the pronunciation of 'out' as 'oat' and asked "where from?" "Ottawa" she replied, "We're flying 'oat' tomorrow." I told them I had got a message from a British 'shipmate' in Ottawa that the temperature was -36c. The husband said "Oh, I'm from England." They were in shorts and T shirts. Hope they change into their fur lined underwear before the 'plane lands!!
Cheers, Richard

Whew!! It was a real scorcher!
There you go Vernon, missed out on cooked eggs on the pavers again in Penrith.
But hot, in 1986 Coober Pedy in January went out to the painted desert, 52 degrees and yesterday at the SCG the temp in the middle at one time was showing at 55.
But fear not my friend it will not be long before we have to suffer the ravages of winter here and it drops to 12 degrees.
Happy daze John in Oz.

Re: Eugene Doherty
Richard, I guess the couple you met planned it just right for their return trip. yesterday (Sun) started off around -23c and gradually warmed up to a balmy -4c and overnight started to snow. Today woke up to about 8-10 inches of the good stuff and the temp is now around 2 above. So if they are lucky to miss any delays due to snow at the airport, it will give them a day or so before the temps plunge again later this week. . was out this am on my trustee 4 wheeler and plough doing the neighbourhood driveways, good for three bottles of good scotch each year. (not much else to do) her with the long hair working from home today, didn't feel like driving into the city in this muck. Life is good in paradise.

Re: Eugene Doherty
Stan, about this time 63 years ago I had the attic of the house with the porch. Sent the picture to my parents who lived at Dee Why Beach, Sydney. Actually it was a happy time for me and I had just got myself a '49 Chevvie Coupe.

Re: Eugene Doherty
It was the winter of 62 or maybe 63, we were I Cape Town and heard that there was to be some snow in UK.
We arrived two weeks later and it did not look too bad.
Then on the rain to London it got deeper and deeper as we went, by the time I got home to SE London all I could see was white.
Went back for the next voyage, got back in March and some of the bloody stuff was still there.
Took a short leave break and back to Southampton where it was a balmy 4 degrees.
Happy daze John in Oz.
