Peter,I know Burlington,is a big place but just by chance you may know a good mate of mine he has been living there for years name Johnny McLaughlin?
HI Peter. Welcome to the site hope you enjoy the memories here. Your discharge No is near to mine R510868. Did you sit for your ticket when you finished your time? Cheers Des
Hi Des, No I didn't site for my ticket. The Old Man encouraged me to take a land job as I had not done so from leaving school. I met a woman who said when I proposed, "the sea or me." Guess what was my choice? I emigrated with her to Canada. No regrets. After a few years bought a 27 foot sailboat and sailed Lake Ontario. Now due to health my sailing is restricted to making and running R/C models. The sea has never left my blood.
Sorry Charlie I don't know Johnny, but I will keep his name in mind, one never knows "it's a small world." Was he a mariner?
Yes peter, before he migrated to Canada was on the home boats. As you say it's a small world, maybe one day you may cross paths cheers

The sea never leaves your blood Peter, in fact it seems to get saltier . welcome to the site ,its brill .Joe.
Dear Peter, You may recollect that we sailed together as apprentices with the Stanhope Steamship Company & according to my discharge book (more reliable than my memory) that would have been the "Stanburn" in 1954. Would be delighted to hear from you. Brian Goodland
