Hi Timothy, was mate on the Cherrywood 5/11/72 to 27/1/73 so missed you. Was mate also on the Beechwood 24/5/71 to 6/6/72 first British ship after being FF since 68. Have recollections and think the Beechwood may have been the old Bishopsgate. Have memories of using the stability books of the Bishopsgate on one of John I Jacobs vessels. She was an ore carrier. Am sure you will reconnect with people on here. Cheers JS

    Hello JS,
Your right, just missed. I joined her in Newport, S Wales 15/2/73. We all paid off in Immingham on 7/5/73, if I remember rightly she was sold FF. The captain was N. Jacotine. Your also right about the names, Bishopsgate became Beachwood, and Cherrywood had been Aldersgate both one ship companies run by Silver line. I was "promoted" to Carpenter when the old chips an elderly gentleman you might remember broke his leg or arm? and was left in Norway. pity they sold her, might have stayed a lot longer with the cushy job!.
