    Hi Ross,

    Were you on the Hororata from 1963 - 64 or 1962 - 63. I was on the 1963 - 64 trip on the 12 - 04 in the Engine Room.

    Kind regards

    Roy

And Roy are you from TEMPLECOMBE WINCANTON in Somerset!
I recall going there a long time back, seem to recall a small Bridge in the Town, liked the place but only passed through!
    Cheers

    Hi Ross,

I apologise for taking so long to reply. Yes, I was born in Templecombe at the Merthy Guest Hospital, just a hundred or so yards from the railway bridge by the railway station in the town. Just as an aside the Germans bombed the bridge on 25th September 1942 (see diagram).Templecombe 25-9-1942 ww2-010.jpg

The bridge can be made out on the opposite side of the station, to the figure of the plane. I often wonder why the Germans were taking all that trouble to try to kill me, only kidding, they were trying to cut one of the main rail routes to the West Country and probably Plymouth in particular.

    Kind regards

    Roy
