Welcome Robert I was also on 4 ore carriers at different eras. The Pennyworth and the Ravensworth ( Dalgliesh) and much later the Beechwood and the Cherrywood (john I Jacobs) the Ravensworth and the cherrywood being of the smaller versions and able to get into Port Talbot through the locks. You may have seen either of those ships regularly in Port Talbot. You may even also know Cindy of local fame. Cheers JWS

    hi j sabourn
I remember one girl, after servicing all of the deck crowd, was taken off by ambulance, due to a over enlarged entrance that was left in a aggravating and bloody mess. don't remember her name though,

    Hi Robert,
I am researching my late father's Merchant Navy Career. His name was William (Bill) Lloyd one of the many ships he sailed on was the MV Orecrest. He was Chief Engineer on the Orecrest at various times between June 1958 and July 1967. As a boy I remember spending lots of time at the docks in Port Talbot when
the ship was in dry dock. Is it possible to send me any photos you have. All I have is a photo of the Orecrest. I look forward to hearing from you.

Well now John , that's a name from the distant past , Cindy of Port Talbot fame - not that I ever knew her of course. Remember the Grand , Lamb and Flag , The Walnut ?.
Great times . Even spent the '66 strike there as 3rd.mate on the Arisaig. Didn't have much to pay off with after that trip.

    Hi Matthew
Is there anything that we may be able to assist with in your research, how far have you been able to get?
    Just asking
