Re: Information on Donald Tracey
Hi Marian, On Donald’s Mothers death certificate the next of Kin was shown as her niece. IMO I believe Donald Died between 1972 and 2000. I have been trying to contact the Niece to asked the very question you raised. She is very elderly. Many years ago when I spoke to her she told me she had to dispose of the contents of Donald’s mothers flat. Now there may be another reason perhaps Donald may have been at sea? If you look at his departure from the U.K. and arriving in Australia which was 20th December 1972, just before Christmas, perhaps he had secured a position on a Ship?

Re: Information on Donald Tracey
Hi Marian, you have been busy. I paid for a search this morning at the National Archives Kew on the advice of Doc Vernon. I know it’s a long shot but as 1972 was the last year for documents to be stored in seaman’s pouches etc. I am hoping perhaps his first appointment is listed. With Regards to Donald’s sister Carole she died in 1999 just before her Mother. Carole never married and moved from Glasgow to London around 1975. She was about 47 at the time and lived in East London. Do you know if there was a radio officers association equivalent in Australia.

Re: Information on Donald Tracey
If Donald gave his reason for going to oz was residency then he must have left Marconi on leaving the UK or taken a position for service engineer in oz for them. Rgds Den

Re: Information on Donald Tracey
I have no doubt about the info that is given through Marian by Hugh, but still think that it is possible that he may have a CRS10 which would indeed help here!
But that is still to be seen??
Just a question once again, and that is why on Earth does Hugh not just post his information himself here, he is still able to, and i find it quite silly this passing info !!!
Anyway what the heck!
Cheers

You may already have done this ???
Advice on tracing the service of Marconi Employees
Over the last few years, we have had a number of requests to trace persons who have worked for one of the companies within the Marconi Organisation.
The first part of this advice applies to all parts of the Marconi family of companies with the remainder applying only to seagoing staff of The Marconi International Marine Company Limited (usually known as MIMCo or MIMC). Â The second part was prepared by the Merseyside Maritime Museum and would also apply to non-Marconi staff.

Re: Information on Donald Tracey
Thank you Doc, I am in the process of applying for a Readers Card at the Bodleian Library to search the Radio Officers record cards.
I am now waiting for the National Archives to get back to me with a page search result for the CRS 10 form as it would still be valid for the year 1972.
My Brother who lives in OZ was a private detective and is making some more enquires over the weekend. I have seen the death Entry for Donald, I am 99% sure it’s him the facts speak for themselves. I will pay and download a copy on Monday morning. I like to thank you all especially Marian, Doc, and Hugh who ever he is… I been searching for years about Donald.
I also emailed the Marconi School of Wireless Association in Sydney to see if Donald attended there between 1973/74. I will comeback and update you when I have some more information.
Tim

Re: Information on Donald Tracey
Hi Marian & Doc, I have ordered a copy of the death details for Donald from the NSW Australian Bmd and paid my 35$? The processing time for an electronic copy is 2 weeks, when I get this information I will all let you know. Marian, I may take up that ladies offer of finding any burial/ cremation details for Donlad, I understand on the death certificates that burial details are entered which may prove to be very helpful.
Doc, the Michael Hughes email address does not appear to valid anymore, has he Left the Bodleian Library?
