    Thank you for your response.

As far as I know, he was Irish, at least that's the last know address I have for him (Dublin). Also, he had a definite Irish accent as well as his friends on board. I wish I had more information but you can see why I've had such trouble locating him over the years.

    Warmest Regards,
    Gloria

First look yesterday showed a bit of a variance with the surname.

    Hence the EG: (For Example)

George Mccurry - Britannic is most likely not your man.

Though not guaranteed yet, George may be in New Zealand:

I do not want to get your hopes up to much yet and requires more research.

The Blue Star Line New Zealand/Australia Reunion

Held in Wellington on the 4th - 6 th March 2005

Had a person attending as below.

    Curry, George

    Afloat : 1971 - 1986 Junior Engineer to 2nd Engineer.

The listing is under those Attending from New Zealand:

It may well not be him and on the other hand could well be.

Certainly, a lead that needs following up ?

    Gangway Magazine Volume 2/12

Take a look at the photo gallery just in case you recognise him.

Still early days for us but, trying.

    Cheers John, all help appreciated.

    Sounds like a good lead.

I can't thank you enough for the new leads!

I followed the links and spent some time looking around. The photo gallery included a picture of George and without seeing him for almost 50 years, I think there's a good chance that it is him.

If so, I should be looking in Australia/New Zealand and not Ireland.

I will continue looking everywhere I can think of.

Again, thank you for the help, I have real hope for the first time in years.

    Warmest Regards,
    Gloria

I received a reply from my friend who was with Blue Star.

He remembers George well, and tell me he married a Kiwi lady by the name of Liz from Napier.
She voyaged with the ship to USA and my friend tells me the last he saw of him was in 1977 but has no idea where he is now.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Thank you very much and please thank your friend for me as well.

It was wonderful to hear news of him and I'm happy he found a wife.

Please tell your friend if he ever sees him to give him my contact information as I would love to speak with him again.

In the meantime, I will continue my search.

    Warmest Regards,
    Gloria

5th Engineer Officer on the Timaru Star

    Capture G Curry.JPGFeb 73

    Capture April 73.JPGApril 73

    Capture April 73.JPGJuly 73

Capture Oct 73 Timaru Star.JPGOct 73 All as 5th Engineer Officer

Thus as he was at Sea in 73 no records will be found as it stopped in 72
You may get original from Southampton Archives worth a try I guess!
