My immediate thoughts are 'Brocklebanks' as their funnel stripes were white and light blue on a black funnel

Just looking at that cap badge, is it a genuine badge ? If it was a British company would it not have a Crown on it as well? There are a lot of rip off badges for sale on E Bay. Here are examples of two , at least I think they are poor copies at best. I am sure anyone who sailed as officers in UCL or Blue Star could correct me if I am wrong.

So I was just merely confirming it wasn't Brocklebanks and posted their House Flag to show this.
