Was Wetherspoons going in those days.? JS
Does anyone remember the 101 club in Glasgow. Had similar looking surroundings as the picture, where they used to cook your meal at the table from a trolley affair. JS

Certainly not on a UCL liner as it would have been sold in Las Palmas for smokes.
But the DM did have some very odd stories to tell so who knows, maybe it came aboard by 'other means'.

Re: Can anyone identify the logo on ice bucket?
AS the DM sailed to NZ in the fifties it could be the Wellington Hotel,in Wellington, or the Waverly in Auckland

Re: Can anyone identify the logo on ice bucket?
Hi all,
Thanks so very much for the replies. I'd always assumed it might have been taken onboard a Shaw Savill & Albion ship (such as the DM -as they were both assigned as crew/staff in 1955). But I think it's definitely a runic W with a crown above, and most likely from a Hotel restaurant on one of their stops between the UK and Australia. Problem is that this was taken 65 years ago and so hard to locate anything from that era.
Cheers all.
Brett
