For what its worth it doesn't necessarily have to be a seaman's badge it could be anyone who worked for a company.

These two for instance 1st White Star.
    2nd Marconi.

That's exactly what I was thinking of Vern, The airline pilot badge you found, I think I will go and check out Mothercare security guards badge you never know !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I remember reading somewhere Arthur Askey started his working life with them as a bouncer on the door Hello Playmates. Re Terry.

I was also wondering if it could have been the badge of one of the many Pleasure Boat Companies that ply the Thames.
When one door closes another one shuts, it must be the wind

Its a real mystery alright Chris, But I thank Charles for posting it always good to have a little challenge aboard the site you could well be right, Then again it could have come from anywhere. The only thing I would ask Charles is if this thread disappears into the fog and he identify's the badge please keep us posted. There will be another riddle posted tomorrow or the next day and that's what tends to happen I have done every search I can think of and the only shipping company with those colours I could find was Moss Tankers, But I may be way of course also. Interesting thread I hope we can conclude the mystery Regards Chris Terry.

Ha ha, thats it John, its the phosphoric acid in the stuff that helps with cleaning!
It is, however neutralised by rum (my opinion only )

There were 2 American shipping companies with a red M on a white background (According to the site of House Flags of U.S. Shipping Co.) Morgan Steamship Co. and the appropriately named Mystic Steamship Company.
