Officers Cap Badge for C T Jones ( Cardiff) ?

This is not an original but is one of recent manufacture in simulated bullion wire.
Found this one on ebay, could be a modern interpretation ?
In the main got me thinking it could be a Griffin rather than a lion ?
Just a thought.

Apologies, slightly off-topic. My Grandfather George Kennerley was also a Captain with P&O, having joined in 1914 aged 14 (killed 1941). We have some crew/passenger lists from some of his voyages - will check to see if they were shipmates on any of them.
(The badge looks like BP to me).
