David just passing through old posts and never noticed this one before. Surprised Gulliver didn’t notice either as would probably have received a reply like contact Cinderella or such like. Hope you found your right size buttons in the end, I was looking for a blazer button myself the other day as lost one also. Looking through my wife’s sewing box I saw a gold button glittering and thought I had discovered El Dorado, however it turned out to be one off one of her dresses, and didn’t want to use in case got called a pansy. However with all the new legislature passed would probably get the award for leading citizen of the year today. The size button you would want would be the georgette button apprentice and cadets used to have. Mine went adrift 66 years ago so no luck there. Hope you had better luck on finding. Sorry so late in replying, but better late than never , even though is useless advice. Best regards JWS. PS as regards my own loss still have one fastening button on the front , when that one decides to skin out, probably the jacket wouldn’t close in any case , so problem solved in my case, just leave open I was never a nifty dresser like Gulliver. Regards JWS.

I did come across small blazer buttons, but all sellers
I found wanted the same price for the small ones as for
the larger ones.I only needed two large buttons but six
smaller ones,so I have made do with just the two large
    buttons.

    Hi John.
If anything happens between us and North Korea, all
we have to do is fly over their army dragging a magnet,
that would get rid of all their top soldiers.

    Merchant Navy Buttons

Nobody understand the needs of the Merchant Navy more than Clyde Uniforms. We source clothing that not only looks good but can stand up to the rigours of a life at sea, that can take multiple washes and is easy to iron and maintain. Pilot shirts, trousers, skirts, ties, boiler suits and jumpers all have to meet our high standards first. We also have the largest range of epaulettes available anywhere as well as cap badges. Whether you’re a trainee or someone with 30 years service we’ve got your uniform needs covered.

Hi Dave. I just noticed plea for help yesterday. Some time back I purchased a job lot of M.N. & Companies uniform buttons off ebay and have dozens of them. They came in three sizes 24mm, 20mm & 17mm. see attachment. If they are what you require you can have them gratis.

Buttons, as a young kid I recall my mum telling me, we were a poor family,
"Take this button next door and ask if they can sew a shirt on it for you'.

When I was about 7 or 8 we were going to the Science Museum and I was told when we gtot there that if I pushed a button things would work, like trains wheels going round etc. About to leave house and was given the inquisition as to why my pockets were so full. I had got every spare button from sewing etc as I was going to have plenty of buttons to push. 75 years later my older sister still remembers.
