Sorry I don't get your point.
Clan Line was formed in 1878, and change in various forms over the years. The Clan Line Association of Calcutta Steamers was formed in 1892, dissolved 1904. My point s that this company was or has not been mentioned previously in any histories of Clan Line.
Vic
Vic, the fact that it said combined company just makes me wonder if the company of which you speak was part of it all?

Re: Clan Line Association Calcutta Steamers
I am afraid that I have to disagree with you, the article does not mention the company that I outlined at the start of this thread.
The Clan Line Association Directors/ shareholders were, John Muir, Charles Cayzer , Thomas Coats, James Moffat and John Moffat. As can be seen these are two separate companies.
The Clan Line Association formed in September 1880, with credit of £600,000 raised in Glasgow and a further £120,000 raised in London. This Association had six ships, managed by Cayzer.
