Just stumbled on this site. Brilliant!! I was a 1st trip pantry boy on Salvada. Joined her straight from the sea school in Gravesend and flew to Los Angeles to sign on, date was 6th Nov 1970. Ship was on charter to a Mexican Co, MTM. Sailed down the Mexican coast as far as Acapulco then back up to Ensenada calling into every little port in between. From there to Japan, arriving on 23rd Dec so Xmas and New Year in Port. Stayed on her till 28th Dec 1971 when we were paid off in Hong Kong. Salvada was handed over to Chinese owners then. Happy days with a mainly Scots crew. Can remember a few names,
Eric Bridges (Edinburgh) was Asst steward, L.T. Smith (Aberdeen) and Henry Hebson (Edinburgh) on deck . Great memories to keep me going in middle age!! Does any of this ring a bell with anybody out there.
