Empress of Scotland.

Having read these posts on the old CPRships sure bring back memories as for the Empress of Scotland when she was the Empress of Japan she was in the same convoy that i was in when i was on the Duchess of Bedford that was one of the last ships to leave Singapore in 1942 as for the other empress ships i sailed in a few convoys with them

Hi Lou as you will know, one Empress ship stayed there, the EMPRESS OF ASIA, bombed and stranded on Sultan Shoal.
The troops on board and most of the crew were interned by the Japs, some escaping on other ships.

I sailed on the EMPRESS OF SCOTLAND after the strike in 1955, she was a good job. I wrote aabout her in `Seafaring Stories` thread in `Swinging the lamp`
