The job also meant I had to do all wages for all Engineering Officers and Ratings. If I remember correctly this would have been some 80 plus in total. I guess my second job was to keep the Chief and Assistant Chief SOBER !!!!! Regards to all who served on the Empress of England. John Yates PS only wish I could find members that served between 1956 and 1961 ????????????

Good Morning Shipmates. Greetings from OZ I was AB on the Empress of England in 1958 and I remember bosuns mate Taffie Williams very well. Harry Tonks was Bosun at that time. A gentleman and a scholar. I also sailed with Martin Quinn on the Empress of Britain. Martin did get a lot of stick, but he was fine with me. I am still into my weeties, but no more salad trays. Thank you for your time boys. Jim F

I was a Purser and sailed on all three Empress ships 1961-69 and enjoyed my time with Canadian Pacific. Back in the mid 1970s I visited the Mardi Gras (Empress of Canada) in Fort Lauderdale when my ship QE2 was berthed in Fort Lauderdale nearby.
    Keep safe

The boatswain was the Serang and the storekeeper was the Cassab on ships with Indian crews.
