Thankyou for that ..I was at my dads today and he told me a story just like that lol ...I hope the person you mentioned sees this I would love to find family ...did you by chance know my dad George Quilliam Martin was his father in law ....I'm trying to find people who new my dad his claim to fame lol is he was in charge when the rena del Pacifico got stuck on the Bermuda flats ..it's a great story !!
Hi Christine I am not sure I know him, long time ago I guess, I was on the France a few times in the 50s and a after the Strike in 1960, the Scotland in 1955, in the 50s England and Britain in the early 60s.
I remember the Reina del Pacifico running aground, big news at the time, the Bosun there was Lah Murphy and the Captain was Captain Whitehouse.
Guaranteed a Bad Discharge on that one. The POOL always emptied when she wanted a crew.

Hi Brian ..my dad loves to chat about the ships and it's quite interesting to hear all the things he got up to lol I would love to find someone who sailed with him ....maybe if I put names of ships on more people might know ..but to ne honest they are going to be quite old I think lol
Your Dad will be about the same age as me I was born in 1935 so 81 in two weeks. I was AB and sometimes Quartermaster on the Empress boats.
Yes he's 80 will 81in Dec I'm sure he was quartermaster too ...he sailed on a few ships I will get a list ...
