It was the new Empress of Canada. Remember the first one on fire.. I was a child, my dad was on the shore gang then. Pictures I have posted could even be the England or maybe the Britain. In answer to query about Martin Quinn he died before or in 1968. Terry scouse we lived in Granville Road so it was only a short walk to Gladstone Dock. regards Anne

Anne Granville Road,Seaforth,that was the long road next to the Royal if my memory serves me right.Have a look at this that I have put up maybe you will recognise family members.

JP I know there was a few families in Seaforth named Pruden when I was looking through the pictures of Granville road there was a picture of a girl Jean Pruden at a street party for the Coronation,any relation???3

I have stumbled upon this wonderful site quite by accident but I think a little devine intervention was used! Basically for this reason: Today I have been going through some old paperwork with my Dad, & we found all his Merchant Navy things. On close inspection we found his EMPRESS OF ENGLAND WEST INDIES CRUISE SHORE EXCURSION PROGRAMMES, WAGE ACCOUNTS from both the Empress of England & Scotland from 1957 up to 1961, Seaman's Allotment Notes, Postcards etc. I knew my Dad had started out on the tankers then moved on to the liners, but I never realised how much of his paperwork he'd kept, then tonight this website pops up. Sorry I can't upload anything my scanner isn't connected to my laptop, but I thought I'd just pop by & say HELLO on behalf of my Dad who is 78yrs young :) x
Great memories for your Dad and of course very interesting reading for you too I bet!
Always nice to keep those old Papers wish I had of,as a lot of my Papers and Certificates etc are long lost now the Pity!
