I was with Buries Markes from 1975 til Nov 1982.I was on all the Chemical tanker, more than a few times each.I also served on a few of the Gear Bulk ships. I was A/b for 3 months then Bosun for the remaining 7 years. Are there any guys out there that remember me?? Incidentally I was never known as Chalky at sea. My name is John White, John to All

I sailed with a chap called Patterson, he was mate, and then went on to command a chemical tanker with the company. Did you sail with him?

7 years with Buries
Hi John, yes i remember you, but can't remember from which ship or ships. Sailed as 2nd cook & baker on La Colina, old and new one and La Chacra then as chief cook & cook steward on the rest, which were : La Sierra, La Pradera, La Selva, La Cumbre, La Falda, La Hacienda , La Loma and Norman Lady. George Phillips was my big buddy, best man at my wedding, god rest his soul. He was one of the best.

Hi Steve
Can't remember if we sailed together or not. I was on the old Colina, La Chacra La Sierra & the La Hacienda. I was an apprentice on these ships, but made 4th mate on the Sierra as I came out of my time just before Sydney. My first ship was the Hacienda and joined her in Dec63
