Bought a camera off George for 1 GBP back in the early 60's, 35 mm film.
Used that for years until the first non film ones came out.
Got rid of it not long after, but it was a very good one.

I had a Zenith (cheap Russion camera) SLR when I went to sea in 1974 and a couple of years later I obtained Minolta SLR from a second mate. Always took 35mm slides and I still have them all, scanned most of them into electronic copies now all the pics are still as sharp as the day I took them. As soon as digital cameras came along I ditched the minolta. Thing I like about digital cameras is that you can take hundreds of pics and just discard the rubbish ones at no cost, but with 35mm film you had to pay for the lot even the crap pics.

Funny you mentioning the big white notes, for some reason I thought they where a much better thing in ones pocket that today's notes even a fifty looks cheap.

As a hobby a few years ago Des, I collected the old Bank of England bank notes some of them going back to WW1, the old white fiver that we knew, was put into circulation
in 1793 and was in use until 1957. Don't know about today's Aus bank notes but ours in the UK are now made with Polymer, a type of flexible plastic, they took a bit of getting
used to but they are more practical than paper notes. cheers, Jonn Collier.

John, here in Oz we invented the polymer bank note.
Far better than the old paper ones and slide into the payment slot on machines without a worry.

I remember going to the Isle of man in 1983 and they had polymer type £1 banknotes then, not sure how long they were used. According to this site the first true ploymer was invented in Aussie in 1988. Wonder why it took so long for them to be made in the UK. Got to admit I find them a bit of a pain as they are very slippy. Does not bother me too much though as they stay in my wallet for ages as most things I buy today are paid for by plastic card.

bring back the £1 note, those coins are absolute pain. I had to stop wearing a belt and move to braces due to the weight in my pocket, which incidentally wear out quicker due to coins

I hate the new notes. They crease up when folded, and the creases stay, so a wad in your back pocket ends up like a coiled spring. Go into any post office and draw out a few hundred, you'll get a pile of springs in the most untidy wad imaginable. I think it's being done on purpose, so we get to hate cash money, then the banks will have us by the nuts.

In your case then you wont get any bother with the moths in your wallet now.
