BP Tankers between 1962 & 1965
Hello...my name is Karen Bernard and I am sending this post in the hope that somebody may be able to help with information/first hand stories of serving on BP Tankers between January 1962 and June 1965. My brother, Eric Bernard who sadly passed away 2 years ago, was electrician on various vessels between these dates and before his sudden death I started to write a draft of his adventurous and interesting life for family posterity but felt unable to proceed with all of that until now. These are the names of the ore carrier (first one) then oil tankers I have copied from his Seaman's Record Book:- MV Sheaf Field January 1962 until June 1962...MV British Resource June 1963 until December 1963 and this included being in the vicinity of the Lakonia disaster as per David Bowley's post and that tragic story. MV British Envoy March 1964 then MV British Gannet April 1964,MV British Guardsman April 1964, MV British Duchess May until October 1964 (Aden) MV British Robin April until June 1965 and finally MV British Gannet June until September 1965. If any of these ship's names...and dates ring bells with anyone I would be happy to hear from you. Eric was my only brother...a good big brother to have. Best Wishes Karen Bernard

Hi Karen.
I was on quite a few BTC tankers but all before 57, have you looked at the BTC company in the Shipping Co forums? A lot of posts there.
Cheers Des
