    Cool Bp tankers.

    Hi Rondo.
I also served on a few BP tankers in the 50s :-
    British Pioneer,Resource,Envoy,Hero and the
Duke.Apart fromm the Duke (2 berth cabins),
all the rest had single berths, not at all bad for
    the 50s.If I remember rightly,the Envoy and
the Hero had small pools on board.Id love to
do it all over again, but without these pirates?

    Hi Janathull.
A warm welcome to the site, you want to check out the BP forum. I was on the Captain but a bit before your time in 53, don't know if it was the same ship as they scrapped them quite regularly. Anyway you may find an old shipmate on site.
    Cheers Des

    Hi,
I sailed on many ships 1960 to 1965. I am stil trying to get pictures of The British Statesman, not the 1923 ship but the later one named for Winston Churchill. WE were up the gulf for a while and on the way back we collided with a Greek Freighter off Portugal. We rescued the Greeks and their ship sank later as far as I know. We ended up paying off in Newcastle. If you were there let me know.

    REF POST #7

Hi Lewis ,a short while back I was looking at a T2 Tanker site somewhere. And if you read the following article I've copied ,The T2 tanker mentioned was converted to a dry-cargo vessel called the Theotokos. She was the one that collided with your British Statesman in 1963.
    Cheers from Gulliver.
