I did my first trip on the British Prestige I joined her in Heburn at the Palmer's shipyard were she had extra section put in just aft of midships that was in 1967 we sailed for kharg island to load crude ,then back to hamburg, then we went back to kharg then back to kotka in Finland to discharge we then got orders for cow es roads so we could pay off some of the crew stayed on but i left .I never sailed on any more bp ships but have worked on plenty of there rigs offshore, being my first ship I thought the food was great 5 course menu etc also they opened a bar on the ship which i believe was one of the first crew bars on any British ship were you could have more than the six cans a night all in all i enjoyed my first trip and the crew where all great guys.
I remember seeing the 'British Builder' in the gulf in 1963.Looked a game old ship.

G'day Micheal and welcome to the site, do you have any dates to go with those ship you listed? If so and you can list them you may well get hear from some who sailed with you. So sit back with a cold one and enjoy the voyage.
Sorry...am new member - thought that I had replied to this yesterday but it hasn't shown so will try again today.. Did my navigating apprenticeship with BP 1961 to 1965 on Merchant, Trust, Grenadier, Sergeant, Merlin and Splendour....happy memories patricularly Trust (should have been Thrush) broken down for weeks in Adelaide and Port Pire...then Merlin - handed over to Aussies in Sidney and we flew home.

Hi Michael,
I was cabin boy on the Trust during the period you mentioned. Also had a ball during our 3 weeks in Port Adelaide and Port Pirie during repairs.
I think I have still got a newspaper report with ships pic on it from Adelaide referring to the Trust as a "supertanker"
Hope all is well with you.
Regards, Jimmy
