Would just like to give you a warm Welcome to this very good site!
Here you will find lots of info,a good Crew and with luck also find a few old Shipmates!
So sit back grab a Tinny, relax and just enjoy the trip!
Hope we will have you here for a long time! Have a happy stay!
Cheers
Vernon (castleman)
Nice lineup of Ships you have there, and i bet you have a few good Yarns to post!
I once lived in Birmingham,Halesowen, and also Hagley in the 1950's
Went back to see my Daughter a few Years back, and then flew back to Frankfurt with BA but it was a small one and Boy! what a takeoff!
The Weather was so bad,and the wibd was howling, and the rain pouring down!
I never thought that the Pilot would take off,but he did and we virtually went up sidewards!
A mite scary to say the least!
All the best
Cheers

My dad Dave McGee was PO on the Mokran and paid off in Khasab Bay just before you joined her in 1977. He spent his last twelve years at sea with BP as bosun for the last six years.

Hi, My real name is Gordon Brown. Yeah I have had loads of stick over the last few years about my name. But as I have got older (62 years old) I have not lost my sense of humour. Also I do have a few yarns as you do when you are deep sea. But I miss the life so much, I have never really been to settled since being made redundant. But like the rest of us I make the most of it. Nice to meet you all.

Hi, I got this feeling that our paths have crossed somewhere. His name certainly has set a bell ringing in the back of my head.

Attached photo of my dad Dave, me and mam on the British Respect 1980. My mam did that many trips, I think she ended up with more sea time tham me.

Hello Brummie, I think I remember you. I was on the Renown March 77 to August 77. I was a GP boy at the time, there were two of us Me ( Danny) and another lad from Liverpool Ian Ball. I remember the trip well and had my 17 Birthday aboard. A surprise party was organised for me it was a great episode in my life. I sailed on a number of ships , Esk, Liberty, Humber, Pride, Renown a second time, and Norness. I loved my time at sea.
As I recall I think you had long hair at the time.
All the best
Danny

Hi, I noticed you sailed with Paul Mates. I sailed about 5 or 6 trips with Paul he was quite a character. I have met a few people from BP days but you are the first from the Renown. I dont live to far from an ex PO called Jim Litchfield. Would be good to hear from Ian again.
