#1.I never sailed on Bowater boats, however, while in Cornerbooke loading paper for Australia the Constance Bowater was alongside next to my ship the MV Eugenie S Embiricos (Around April 1968). I invited myself on board to exchange books and to chat with British sailors. I presented the crew's bar with a Chinese lamp, I'd bought earlier in Hong Kong. After a few drinks in the bar and singing all the songs in my repertoire I refused to leave and return to my ship. The Eugenie was about to sail. They couldn't go without a radio officer. Firstly the 3rd mate came to get me off, then the chief mate pleading with me to return to my ship. I refused, digging my heels in. Anyway, the captain of the Constance Bowater persuaded me to rejoin the Eugenie S Embiricos. I was sad to leave the British ship. I'd been on the Greek flagged ship for 13 months and was homesick.
