Thanks for the update. That will be Alex Frew in Queensland, also on the Ribera at the same time as us. Hope Kenny's trip ends up in the UK and we get the chance to have a few more.

Were you a fanatical carp fisherman? If you were then maybe you can remember telling me all about it. I sailed as a supernumerary from Houston to Chiba and Kobe Feb 10 to March 13 1970. My parents knew Mr Bolton who was an owner. His son Charlie was a cadet for that trip, learning about his old man's business. I joined Ribera as a deck cadet on her maiden voyage from Middlesbrough in June 1965. Paid off in February 1966. Then again as Third Mate from June 1967 to April 1968. Long hauls from USGulf to Japan and back. Good times! My first ship with air conditioning.
