In my opinion the only good thing about Blue Star was the funnel. I sailed in two Canberra and Brasil, both full of bull...., lousy accommodation, cheapest of food. There were far better companies.

I was a great supporter of the Blue Star, there was one hanging outside every S & N PUB.

#13 .It must be over 50 years ago I can remember that Blue Star being discussed on some ship , where it was reckoned that either Blue Star line or maybe the other way round where Newcastle Brown Ale was trying to buy the other one out to be the sole owner being able to show. Or trying to claim a patent for same. Don’t think it ever came to anything. JS

Wonder if there is any truth in the story I heard that the funnel was designed from a drawing done by a schoolchild in a competition run by Lord Vestey. Probably just another story after a few cans in the bar.
    Regards Michael

You never know Michael, after all it was the Spitfire designer's 14 year old daughter that showed him his wing lift calculations were incorrect, and in the days before computers
