Are they going ahead to build this ship then (Titanic 11) as I thought it may be just a rumour. Should be interesting to see the completed build.

    Default Titanic II:

Hope the link below help on this ?

LINK: It's full steam ahead for Titanic II - Clive Palmer | News.com.au

Untroubled by the catastrophic past of the name, Australian tycoon Clive Palmer has announced plans to move full steam ahead to build a new titanic. Claiming that he had 20,000 advance bookings for the maiden voyage, Palmer said he plans to build the 21st Century version of the luxury liner exactly of the same dimension as its ill-fated predecessor, which sank 100 years ago, Sydney Morning Herald reported. Palmer plans to build the 840 rooms and nine decks ship in a Chinese shipyard and has hired a Finland-based company Deltamarin to review the vessel’s compliance with safety and construction regulations.

The Australian tycoon proposes to run the ship as a regular feature on the transatlantic route between the UK and US. “This magnificent vessel is being constructed in memory of the heroic people who served on the first ship, as well as the passengers who sadly shared their fate,” Palmer said in a statement. The design criteria would be to keep the ship as identical to the original Titanic as possible, with changes only below the water line for diesel generation and greater fuel efficiency.

The ship is expected to be ready by 2016, the newspaper reported. Palmer has invited the Chinese navy to escort Titanic II on its maiden journey from China to the United Kingdom where the ship will then re-trace the intended route of the original ship. The original Titanic sank in 1912, killing more than 1500 passengers and crew. (Universal report, not mine.)

    Default "Titanic"

If this contraption is ever built, what use will she be? Nobody will cross the pond by sea unless they have to. All these new Cunarders are just top heavy gambling joints, ripping the punters off, demanding back-handers to empty the pi## pot. All these type of tub now have deserved bad reputations, and no wonder, how could 4000 pax evacuate one of those, on fire, in a F.12, , north of the Azores ?, especially when nobody speakee Ingeriss. Schiaffino couldn't evacuate that Concordia when everybody could have just walked ashore ! Blue Star Line ????? Vestey will turn in his grave

The fact remains that he has been flooded with people wanting to go on the maiden voyage and further ones.

    Default Titanic One

Bought a dvd recently re above and with it some printed memorability. One of the items was a copy of the brochure advertising Titanic's return voyage to Europe. She was due to sail from pier 59 New York on Saturday April 20th at 12 noon.
third class fares were $36.25. Her itinery was planned as -Plymouth,Southampton,London,Liverpool and Glasgow. By all accounts she was almost fully booked. The White Star office for booking was given as no 9 Broadway.
I wonder if those that booked received a refund.

Default The real one has gone forever.

Hi Shipmates. How can they build the The ill fated "Titanic" it can only be a poor copy at best, in China where they are going to build some of it ? you can buy a painting by an old master or world famous artist, a copy for a few dollars. The film was a good yarn but was it real? dont think so !!! But You can sell a dream to anyone.
