    Default Capt Walter D Smith

I be interested to know if anyone can shine a light on this man - he sailed with Blue Funnel at least as a cadet. A friend who is researching this uncle has been in touch and sent me an image from The Nautical Magazine:
The family have no knowledge of a discharge book, so we have no indication as to which vessels he signed on.

Thanks for the response, Doc. I'm advised by his descendent he is: Walter David Smith. Born. 20th May 1912.

Hugh MacLean, on SN, has tonight unearthed useful crew lists of him aboard 'Ixion' running between Shanghai and Yokahama and Seattle as midshipman in 1932. Plus existence of medal cards for WW2. He thinks more can be learned by visiting the archives in person.

    Best wishes

Yes his Medal Card is there. Which shows his Dis Number and Medals awarded

A visit to the Archives would certainly be of good use!
